ICELAND is an intimate contemporary story, set against the vast landscapes and timeless mythology still very much alive in Iceland today. This world is inhabited by the “Hiddenfolk” – ancient, powerful, unseen beings who create the paths and obstacles that help the main characters, Vala and Mundi, to grow in order to find themselves and each other.
Mundi, a white man, and Vala, an African-Icelandic woman, were childhood sweethearts. Years later, they reconnect during a chance encounter at the Reykjavik Airport. Their entwined journeys lead them off the map of the known world into the Dark Night of the Soul, where the mythic protectors of Iceland exist – The Bird, The Bull, The Giant, and The Dragon. The story explores the opposing themes of Fire and Ice, Memory and Reality, Fate and Free Will, as well as the transcendent power of Love.
