Casting Call for The ICELAND Concert

Accomplished singer/movers wanted for a semi-staged concert presentation of the new opera, ICELAND, written by O-Lan Jones and Emmett Tinley.

Excellent musicianship essential for all performers.  Must read music and be comfortable performing in multiple musical styles, including contemporary forms of music that transcend traditional stylistic definition.  A personal consistency of rhythm and pitch is essential. Please indicate any movement for theater experience including dance, musical theater staging, stage combat, clowning, etc.

ICELAND is an intimate contemporary love story, set against the vast landscapes and timeless mythology still very much alive in Iceland today. This world is inhabited by the “Hiddenfolk” – ancient, powerful, unseen beings who, with the help of the Four Mythic Beasts, create the paths and obstacles that help the main characters, Vala and Mundi, to grow in order to find themselves and each other. The story explores the opposing themes of Fire and Ice, Memory and Reality, Fate and Free Will, as well as the transcendent power of Love.

The ICELAND Concert will take place on Friday, October 7th, at the historic and newly renovated  John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles. Rehearsals are scheduled as follows:

• Mondays Aug 22nd, 29th & Sept 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th. 6pm-10pm.

• Saturdays Sept 17th and 24th, 10am-2pm.

• Saturday, Oct. 1st, 10am-2pm.

• Sunday, Oct. 2nd. 10am-2pm.

• Monday, Oct. 3rd, 6pm-10pm.

• Wednesday, Oct. 5th. (Evening)

• Thursday, Oct. 6th. (Evening)

• Friday, Oct. 7th. (Performance)

Pay: $500-750

Auditions will be held July 17 & 18 in Hollywood. Location will be confirmed via email.
